The “Fête du Citron” (Lemon Festival) is one of the most important events of the Côte Azur that gathers every year hundreds of thousands of spectators.
It’s an original, colorful event that puts together the beauties of the city of Menton with it’s fantastic climate and spectacularity of the event.
The chosen theme for 2008 will be “Menton invites the islands of the world” and everything will move around this topic. From Saturday, February 16th to Wednesday, March 5th the Lemon, fruit of the sun, will be the protagonist.
Daytime parades of citrus wagons decorated for the occasion (on Sunday, February 17th and 24th and March 2nd at 2.30 PM) on the Promenade du Soleil; nighttime parades (on Thursday, February 21st and 29th at 8.30 PM) even more spectacular and flashy accompanied by fanfares, orchestras, dancers and jugglers… ending the evening with fireworks.
For all of the period of the Festival it will be possible to admire at the Biovès Gardens great citrus compositions that represent the four corners of the planet. Visiting time will be extended during the evenings of Tuesday and Saturday.
Other side events to the Lemon Festival will be the Orchid Festival and the Craftsmanship Salon, which can be visited from Monday to Friday from 9.30 AM to 6 PM, from 9 AM to 7 PM during weekends and up to 8 PM during the nighttime parades and Gardens of Light.
