Sanremo, March 2007. Saturday 24th March will see the la Classicissima di Primavera, the 98th edition of the Milano-Sanremo for Professionals. 1997 will be an important year for the race, it will celebrate 100 years and it’s going to be remembered and celebrated more than ever. Through the years, the biggest champions of cycling have gone past the winning post of Via Roma, a difficult journey ( 290 Km ) stretching from Milan all the way towards the sea, with its famous climbs just before the finishing post (Poggio, Cipressa) and the final sprint, which is a prize for the bravest.
Sunday 25th March Sanremo will be protagonist once more with the Medio Fondo Milano-Sanremo, a cycling race for amateurs which was supported by the “Gazzetta dello Sport” and added to the circuit of the Challenge Gazzetta. An itinerary of 110 Km and over 1000 metres of height difference, stretching along the Liguria coast and reaching the provinces of Imperia and Savona. The Piazzale Dapporto of Sanremo will be the gathering and departure site with arrival in via Roma.
During the journey there will be no sortage of classic climbs such as Cipressa and Poggio,the 2007 edition is expecting 1000 partecipants after the great success of 2006, with 800 partecipants.
