Menton, Feb. 2007. After the great success of the 2006 edition,“Menton Invite le Carnavals du Monde”, which had Brazil as special guest, in 2007 the 74th edition of the “Fête du Citron” will have as a guest of honour India and its Carnival.
The party is running from Sat. 17th Feb. to Wed. 7th March 2007. Twenty years of music, dances, shows, smiles, colours and scents…the “Festa dei Limoni” of Mentone is all this and much more, it’s like diving in a fantasy world where reality and dreams meet, mixed with the sounds of live bands, the colours of wagons and the fun of masks…….
There will be many events in the 2007 edition, starting with the set ups in the Biovès Gardens ( opening times 9am/6pm, open till 7pm at weekends ), where you will be delighted by big sculptures of citrus fruits and floreal compositions through a very special “tour du monde” !
An incredible tour around India, Marocco, England and Holland, all thanks to superb and delicious smelling citrus fruit set ups. At sunset, the gardens turn into Jardins de Lumières, everything lights up and special cratures come to life, the music will surprise you and you will get caught in a magical mix of ligths and shadows….( Sat. 17Th and Tue. 27th Feb. and Tue. 6th March, from 8.30pm to 10 pm ).
Sundays are completely dedicated to the great afternoon parades ( Feb. 18th and 25th and March 4th, 2.30pm/4.30pm ), under the sun of the French Riviera, a windmill of colours, bands, masks of all kinds and a celebrating crowd will welcome the many wagon along the Promenade du Soleil, the heart of the party.
Two spectacular parades will also take place at night time, on Thu. 22nd Feb. and Fri. 2nd March, from 8.30pm and, to finish with, some great fireworks will end the night.
A special appointment for the very young will also take place on Thu. 22nd Feb, from 2pm, The Carnevale dei Bambini, with games, music and lots of fun ! There will be another couple of shows at the same time as the “Fête du Citron” in Mentone ; at the
“Palais de l’Europe”, the Festival delle Orchidee e il Salone dell’Artigianato. Opening times; Mon-Fri 9.30am/6pm ( 9am/7pm at weekends ) and on the night of the Jardins de Lumières until 8pm.
