Ventimiglia, August 2007. In 2007, the main exhibition in Ventimiglia reaches its 31st edition. It has become a great event with a big following and it was added to the Federation of Historic Games. This year, the theme is going to be “1600, Angelico Aprosio’s golden century”, a well-deserved tribute to a famous citizen, To celebrate the anniversary of his birth, 400 years ago, the local authority has set up an exhibition at the archaeological museum “Girolamo Rossi” , by the Forte dell’Annunziata. The exhibition is called“Angelico Aprosio e Ventimiglia del Seicento”. There will be many interesting events on the first weekend of August. First, a big party through the streets and piazzas of Ventimiglia’s town centre, including local bands and dishes to taste. On Sunday, the Regata dei Sestieri ( a boat race ) and the Palio Marinaro price-giving. Many other events will take place in August, ( as well as conferences, crossbow tournaments, predatory birds, etc. ), night shows and ‘600 costume animations.
The Festa of San Secondo, with the prize-giving of the silver “San Segundi” to this year’s best citizen of Ventimiglia, will end all celebrations onSunday 26th August. In the afternoon, there will also be a big party in the main Cathedral square, including the Castagnola town festival.
