It has silver-like leaves and small, white flowers.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Hill of Bussana\u00a0<\/strong>is still covered by the maquis (i.e., the dense scrub characteristic of certain Mediterranean coastal regions): plenty of pine woods (<em>Pines halepensis<\/em>), broom, strawberry trees, heather, holm-oaks, mastic trees, and myrtle. Along steep and exposed cliffs, you can find bushes of\u00a0<em>Thymus vulgaris, Coris monspelinsis<\/em>, and\u00a0<em>Cistus albidus<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The rocky soil of Bussana is also the perfect habitat for a rare plant, the Stipa juncea. As a matter of fact, the stipa can only be found on the Western Riviera (from Albenga to Ventimiglia), in Tuscany (on the Argentario), and in Sardinia (in the Cagliari and Sarcidano areas).<\/p>\n<p>The maquis has been gradually modified by man so as to allow for the cultivation of more &#8220;useful&#8221; plants, such as fruit trees, vines and, olive trees. It is obvious that lots of typical species have disappeared while others have found a suitable habitat for their growth.<\/p>\n<p>Two typical examples of San Remo flora are the\u00a0<em>Narcissus remopolensis<\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0<em>Narcissus panizzianus<\/em>.
