Hinterland of Riviera, Summer 2007. There will be many and varied events this Summer; the Riviera hinterland offers something for everyone.
Every year, on July 2nd, in Vessalico, Alta Valle Arroscia, the red garlic fair ( garrison house Slow Food ) takes place here. It is a celebration of one of the most rare and precious products of this area ( each year, it reaches a production of 3000 pieces, each made of 24 pieces ). The area’s major producers as well as many tourists gather for this event to discover one of Valle Arroscia’s finest “jewel”.
In Valle Argentina, Montalto Ligure to be precise, for two consecutive weekends in July ( 21st and 28th) the 3rd edition of the “Cronica Montisalti”, takes place. It is a “tribute” to Medieval times , complete with street markets, theatre shows, reconstructions of typical Medieval settings, etc. Lots of new ideas are expected for this years’ edition.
The 11th edition of “Harpae – Festival delle arpe di Isolabona” will also take place in July. This is a prestigious event which has grown significantly in the past years. The townhall of Isolabona has started a new project in 2006, called “Isolabona, the village of harps”, an interesting challenge for a town so strongly linked to this elegant instrument.
Again, in July, the “la piccola Atene fra gli ulivi” ( i.e. Villa Faraldi ) will fill up the piazzas for the 24th edition of the “Festival di Villa Faraldi – Art, Music and Theatre”. Througout the years, it has hosted many famous national and international artists.
From July 11th to August 11th, in Borgio Verezzi (Sv) the 41st edition of the Festival Teatrale, a classic event which brings the magical world of theatre to Liguria, creating a perfect combination with the Mediterranean vegetation of the Liguria coast.
